Meet Kari West

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
Joseph Campbell

Kari West is an author, sought-after speaker and spirited gardener. She draws from a deep well of seasoned faith and experiential wisdom—surviving unwanted divorce, being a single working mom, and reconciling with health issues.

Responding to the needs of people affected by life’s losses, she authored two books, When He Leaves: Help and Hope for Hurting Wives and Dare to Trust, Dare to Hope Again: Living With Losses of the Heart. Her words have appeared in national, international, and online publications; greeting card copy; audio tapes for the blind; and  anthologies, including the New York Times best-selling series Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Kari is a popular media guest who has appeared on radio and television in the U.S. and Canada. She served as facilitator for DivorceCare and as editor of a monthly women’s ministries newsletter. A member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association, she teaches workshops at local and national writers’ conferences.

The mother of a grown daughter and a grandmother, Kari resides in Northern California with her husband and a Labrador Retriever named Bella.
